First Repair Cafe at Saints
On Saturday the 18th October we hosted our very first Repair Cafe at Saints, working in partnership with Warwickshire Climate Alliance, funded by the Green Shoots fund. We were also very grateful to have the support of Warwickshire Active Travel, Warwickshire CAVA and Nuneaton Men and Women in Sheds!
What is a repair cafe?
Repair cafe’s are a global movement promoting community, sustainability and creativity. Visitors bring their broken items and skilled volunteers work with them to tend and mend!
On the day an amazing team of volunteers turned up to offer support fixing different things. We had people doing bike repairs jewelry fixing, clothes mending, small electrical repairs and PAT testing and so much more. The repairers also gave advice to those bringing in their items on how to do repairs and maintenance themselves in future! There was also free green advice given out around how to make energy savings, and plenty of opportunity for coffee and good conversation.
Thank you to everyone who came and helped out, and those who brought items to fix.
It was a brilliant day, and hopefully the start of more to come. We are looking for more volunteers who have skills in repairing, particularly sewing/sewing machines and electrical repairers. If you think you could help, please do get in touch by email.
