Purpose of the role
To assist in the delivery of high-quality hospitality for the Saints Project (Central), providing practical support for the café and any catering it provides.

What you will be doing
• Clean tables, wash dishes, ensure a tidy kitchen and café area.
• Participate in end of day cleaning.
• Serve food and drinks to customers.
• Taking orders using the till system.
• Create drinks on the coffee machine (after receiving training)
• Be responsible for ensuring our value of welcome and excellent hospitality is upheld.
• Develop positive, professional relationships with customers, staff and volunteers.

Purpose of the role
To assist in general building maintenance for the Saints Project (Central), providing practical support for day to day maintenance tasks as well as occasional support on building renovation and upgrades.

What you will be doing
-
Carry out basic practical building maintenance tasks as directed by the Communities and Facilities lead, including but not limited to: painting, hanging pictures, filling holes, changing lights, fitting doors etc.

Take petty cash issued by a senior staff member to purchase necessary maintenance supplies.

Participate in end of day cleaning where necessary.

Purpose of role
The Kids Activities Volunteer supports the delivery of fun, safe, and engaging activities for children. Volunteers help create a welcoming and positive environment where children can take part in games, crafts, and learning activities.

Key responsibilities
• Assist with planning and delivering activities for children.
• Support children during games, crafts, and group activities.
• Encourage participation and help children feel included.
• Help set up activity areas and prepare materials.
• Supervise children during activities under the guidance of staff or the activity leader.
• Promote a safe and positive environment for all children.
• Help tidy up and pack away equipment after sessions.
• Follow safeguarding and health and safety guidelines at all times​
Purpose of role
Housekeeping Volunteers help keep the community centre clean, tidy, and welcoming for everyone who uses it. By supporting with light cleaning and organisation, you help create a safe and comfortable environment for families, children, support groups, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

Help keep communal and storage areas tidy and organised

Help declutter and organise cupboards, storage rooms, and shared spaces

Support with setting up and clearing rooms before and after sessions or activities

Check that community resources are organized, including- donations of blankets, clothes, toys, books, games, etc.

Purpose of role
The Listening Volunteer provides a supportive and non-judgemental presence for individuals who want someone to talk to. The role focuses on listening with empathy, offering understanding, and helping people feel heard and valued. This role is not a counselling or therapist role, for concerns that require professional help and support, the volunteer will be expected to signpost to the relevant services (a resource list will be provided)

Provide a safe, respectful, and friendly environment for people to talk.

Listen actively and attentively without judgement.

Show empathy, patience, and understanding when supporting individuals.

Encourage individuals to express their thoughts and feelings.

Respect data protection and follow the Saint’s safeguarding policies.

Signpost to organizations that can provide professional support when needed

Attend training and volunteer meetings when required.

Communicate any concerns to the volunteer coordinator following safeguarding procedures.

Maintain a neutral position, giving space for individuals to be heard without giving personal opinions or advice that is beyond the capacity of the volunteer to give.

Purpose of role
The Volunteer Craft Group Leader will be responsible for leading enjoyable and inclusive craft sessions for participants. The role involves planning simple craft activities, supporting attendees during sessions, and creating a welcoming and environment for everyone involved. The volunteer will be working with the Duty manager to come up with ideas that complement seasonal themes and fit with wider community initiatives (e.g- Easter, Christmas, mental health awareness week, etc).

Key responsibilities

Plan and lead engaging craft activities suitable for the group.

Prepare materials and equipment needed for each session, planning around materials we already have to keep sessions cost effective.

Welcome participants and help create a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

Demonstrate craft techniques and assist participants when needed.
-
Encourage creativity and participation from all group members.
-
Ensure the workspace is kept tidy and safe.
-
Help set up and pack away materials before and after sessions.
-
Keep art and craft materials organised to a good standard, regularly sorting through materials and donating what we don’t need to ensure best use of storage space.

Communicate with the group coordinator about session plans and any needs for materials.

Purpose of role
The Basic Computer Skills Volunteer supports individuals who want to improve their confidence using computers, smartphones, or the internet. Volunteers help participants learn simple digital skills and provide patient, friendly guidance in a supportive environment.
​
Key responsibilities

Support participants in learning basic computer and digital skills.

Help individuals use devices such as laptops, tablets, or smartphones.

Demonstrate simple tasks such as:

Sending emails

Using the internet safely

Accessing online services

Creating documents

Video calling

Provide one-to-one or small group support during sessions.
-
Encourage participants to build confidence using technology.
-
Help set up and pack away equipment before and after sessions.

Follow safeguarding, privacy, and data protection guidelines.

Inform the coordinator if participants need additional support.
